Its not just the layoffs due to AI. There is also the AI investment bubble. The home real estate bubble. The impending commercial real estate collapse. The motor vehicle debt most are carrying, on top of unprecedented household debt.
Then there is the world wide government debt.
None of this is reversable without a major economic downturn where bad debt has to be written off.
But then the super rich, corporations (or in the case of China the CCP) will not want this to happen as it would mean bankruptcy. This means having to put the economy in some kind of a holding pattern where the government can suspend normal economic activity. Hence a major war.

The Zohran election in NYC is yet another manifestation that promising people free stuff will get you elected.
It doesn't surprise me anymore that people are dumb enough to believe this kind of stuff. The reality is that the rich will flee, the tax receipts will crater, and the city will find itself in bankruptcy. Meanwhile the non enforcement of basic laws will result in rampant crime, which is already at historically bad levels.
Extreme leftists have turned many cities into third world hellscapes that are supported by the taxes coming from non-urban citizens in the same state. If it wasn't for these funds, these cities would have completely cratered years ago.

Well, we are officially in the longest shutdown in our history. I doubt it's going to end anytime soon, since many of the Democrats' main donors (wealthy, white liberals) are screaming: "Resist at all costs!" The shutdown isn't going to impact them much, so they have little to lose by keeping it going.
I can't say I'm surprised by any of the recent election results. Virginia and New Jersey are blue states and right now, Democrats have the motivation to turn out. Mondami is likely to end up being a gift for the Republicans, but since his opposition is a disgraced ex-governor, I'm not surprised the city couldn't stomach another few years of him. Still, his victory margin was a lot smaller than that of Eric Adams in 2021.
What I've never believed is that the arc of history goes in a single direction. I can't say I was a Charlie Kirk fan, but it's looking like Nick Fuentes may replace him. Unlike most, he is a far-right, Neo-Nazi, white supremacist, someone who has a massive number of followers. It worries me to see the likes of him gain such traction among the younger generation. There are some conservatives speaking against him, but not nearly enough.

There seem to be a lot of Right Wing extremists coming out of the shadows. The loonies of the left have given them the opportunity.
Charlie Kirk's arguments were based on logic and Christian values.
People like Fuentes are NOT based in logic, but hate, which is just as bad as the left wing loonies.
Tucker Carlson, Candice Owens, and others like them are pandering to sensationalism, if not the dark side (ie Carlson in Russia saying how great it was).
As for logical thinking, I like the guys at Triggernometry and the guy who does "Elephant in the Room". Both have a good number of videos on Youtube you can search through.

SNAP (Food Stamp) Payments
The government shutdown should end now that the Supreme Court has allowed the administration to cease SNAP (Food Stamp) payments until the government is funded again.
There will be too much pressure on Democrat politicians to resist. They are dependent on the votes of those who have become dependent on government handouts, so they need to ensure those handouts continue as quickly as possible.
In other news regarding the Supreme Court, it is looking doubtful that they will uphold Trump's ability to impose tariffs (which he is now doing as an "emergency measure"). This could lead to more economic unraveling as the government loses what has become a major source of income.

I'm willing to entertain a reasonable argument against those accused as being too far out of bounds. It seems literally everyone has a strong bias and agreement, even within a party, is not remotely possible at this time. It's hard to keep up with the mayhem going on.Navigator wrote: Thu Nov 06, 2025 4:24 pm There seem to be a lot of Right Wing extremists coming out of the shadows. Hello guys, I have a little time to post so I decided to do so. On Dekardis worry about AI I think this is a real issue, However there are ways to make the impacts on Americans less problematic. If we deport the illegals and end the h1b program and deport all of them this will soften the impacts of AI on the American citizenry. If we also cut down immigration and also start deporting any visa holder that breaks the law this would also help. To be clear when I say cut down on immigration I mean legal immigration and the cuts must be deep.
On Nick Fuentes and the other "far right" people, you guys still don't get it, they are growing because they listen to the regular everyday American that has been getting destroyed for decades. I believe that people have to do for themselves and be self reliant, but there is no doubt in my mind that over the last 50 years things have been getting progressively harder for regular people. I have never taken any government assistance and have worked like an animal to get where I am at and I am not as well off as people in previous generations were at my age. I am not complaining as that is the cards I was dealt and I have played them to the best of my ability and honestly I am doing better than a lot of people , I might even say better than most, but I have been in the working class my whole life and I know what that is like. I know what it's like to get in your crappy car that is the best you can afford and turn the key and be terrified that it doesn't start and now you have a new problem that is going to cost you money you don't have and might make you miss work days you can't afford to miss. This life I have lived wasn't that I was not budgeting right and was blowing money on luxuries like expensive cloths and eating at fine restaurants it was because of some bad luck and also because of policies like flooding the labor market with cheap labor from illegals. When ever I would ask for any help which wasn't often I was usually told to toughen up and pull myself up by my bootstraps and how I was lucky that I had it better than the poor illegals that were flooding the labor market and devaluing my labor. I worked 2 jobs for most of my life and sometimes I would work 3 jobs. That and a little bit of good luck is how I was able to get ahead, and still past generations were far better off than I am at this age. My brothers and I know what it's like to have a bad injury like a broken hand and still have to push through and keep working because you don't have any other choice.
Now look at the regular people, you guys know the unwashed rabble like me, except they are not even doing as well as me. Along comes someone like Fuentes who is talking about real issues not BS issues that have 0 real impacts on these peoples lives and of course they are going to listen. What do the democrats and the GOP establishment do ? They continue to talk about crap regular people don't really care about and spend more money on illegals, people that have been on welfare their whole lives like the single mother with 5 kids and 5 baby daddies. If that isn't enough they send money to Israel and every country on this planet. If they complain they are told to shut up you filthy racist , sexist , antisemetic looser and try harder and pull yourself up by your bootstraps, and apparently you guys can't figure out how that wouldn't work for regular people. Call me or any of these people a racist , antisemite, islamophobe, sexist or any of the other names used to try and shut us down, guess what it isn't working anymore, people have had enough of that BS.
Maybe just maybe what the elites need to do is start listening to these people and actually start delivering some positive results for them instead of insulting them and making BS promises that they never intend to keep.
By the way when I talked about working through injuries like a broken hand or torn ligaments in the knee or other joints, we worked through these injuries and others while we worked construction and other tough manual labor jobs, not while we worked in a nice airconditioned office.

I have more good news, there are now some more coal reserves in Alabama along with some iron reserves and the DOE has given some grants to coal fired power plants to increase efficiency as well as capacity.
There are also some new rare earth refining plants that are going to be coming online soon. I think the Trump fight with China and the whole thing with a trade deal is just to buy time to get these plants up and running and keep preparing for war.

Trump Shortsightedness
Trump has shown some real shortsightedness of late. But these things are really just proof that Trump is almost entirely about Trump.
1. Trump wants to give each citizen (voter) at $2000 check. He says that everyone deserves a portion of the tariffs he set up.
2. Trump wants the Republicans in the Senate to end the filibuster rules that make it so that you need 60 Senators to approve a bill through the Senate.
The tariff check would do little to help each person, but would further crater the government's finances. Right now the tariffs are doing good in providing additional government revenue to help abate the run-up of the national debt. Giving everyone $2k is just a way to "buy love" for Trump and improve his approval ratings. Which, btw, are meaningless.
Ending the Senate filibuster would backfire on the Republicans the instant the Democrats get a majority in the Senate. This is improbable during Trump's term, and I guess that's why he doesn't care about the repercussions. Think back to how many loony Democratic ideas the filibuster stopped during the Biden and Obama presidencies. Without the filibuster, they would have happened.

A financial analyst explained how this money is actually basically a bank bailout. Because we're teetering on the edge of the expected collapse and this might hold us up a bit longer. And it's probably just another kick the can down the road maneuver for instant gratification while ignoring the future pain. The tariff check would do little to help each person, but would further crater the government's finances.
