There would be no way to cover up such a massacre when observers inevitably show up and ask where did the city go. The Notion of Idlib being a giant Malmedy is therefore implausible.

In 2014 a Syrian military photographer defected with about 55,000 photographs of about 11,000 people who were obviously tortured to death and then photographed, presumably to prove that they were tortured to death. You're right that it is impossible to cover this up.
