What can possible be gained from the summit? It seems destined to end in impasse. Why is Trump even bothering with this farce?

Everyone knows North Korea is ruled by snakes. What happens when the North announces it has completed it ICBM program? The hapless South Korean President seems intent on making a deal--any deal--to achieve 'peace in our time'.

What do you predict trump will do?

Boomers don't think in terms of Gains and Losses, only in terms of what gives them a self-righteous and moralistic high. President Trump seems to be somewhat of an outlier in this but he is surrounded by other boomers advising him who think in the typical boomer mold. These advisers are trying to pressure Trump into continuing globalist policies.

Consider your prediction to be recorded for posterity.

North Korea's fate is practically sealed, the only question is if they are allowed to take down an American, western, or other allied city or bases on their way out or not. The only way Kim's getting out of this at this point is if he capitulates.

Trump is an individual with free will, so it's impossible to predict
what he'll do. Generational Dynamics doesn't predict the actions of
individuals, and so neither do I.

However, see the following:

** 21-Feb-18 World View -- US considers military options as North Korea continues nuclear weapons development during Olympics

John wrote: By the way, I've heard some analysts recently talk about another US
military option. The US removed its nuclear weapons from SK in 1991
in response to another phony promise from the North Koreans to end its
nuclear development. The US could threaten to put them back. The
South Koreans have already agreed to the THAAD missile system, and
they might agree to bring back the nuclear weapons as the lesser evil
than a US military attack on NK.
Seems like a better option than what is being done. America needs to wise up and realize how things use to be done aren't the same as how things are done now. Sure Kim we can talk and as you continue to play your game and push talks further while building arms we will just openly continue to arm our allies tooth and nail until an "agreement" can be reached. John continues to post on an almost nightly basis about how the usual suspects continue to pledge to "do better next time" while continuing to buy dope and get high in the back alley when no one is watching.

I'm sure America is well aware. With the way things are going SK probably wouldn't even want to take the weapons. They are still living in LaLa-land. Attempts to substantially arm other allies in the region would just give China more ground to claim America is threatening them and their militarization is well justified.
