The Uranium One deal rose up out of the ashes of a program called Megatons to Megawatts (a play on the biblical idea of “swords into plowshares”), where the U.S. would receive enriched uranium from decommissioned Soviet nuclear weapons and that fuel would be and was used to fuel the nuclear powered electrical grids in America. That Megatons to Megawatts program expired in 2013.
* In anticipation of that expiration, Putin began to attempt to corner the market on nuclear fuels (as well as oil and other energy resources) to boost the Russian economy. This is where the Uranium One deal was born.
* Starting in 2009, Rosatom, Russian energy company, began pursuing uranium export contracts in the U.S., but these contracts had HUGE political hurdles to overcome. Most Republicans attempted to block these transactions, and rightly so.
* There is a commission called Committee on Foreign Investments (hereafter CFI) which is subject to U.S. codified statute. This commission must adhere to federal laws when approving or denying foreign investment in U.S. assets. One of the codified laws governing foreign investment is that no foreign participant of any foreign investment transaction shall be involved in the commission of any crime. Hillary Clinton was the head of the CFI through the State Dept and it was her responsibility to carry out these duties in accordance to federal law.
* starting in or around 2010, FBI agent William Campbell was embedded inside the Russian Energy Industry as a “lobbyist” for Russian investment in the U.S.. During this time he documented criminal activity by the Russians to overcome political opposition to these transactions, by way of bribes, and Campbell brought this to the attention of his superiors at the FBI and DOJ. Indictments were handed down to those Russians offering the bribes, and thus because of aforementioned U.S. statute, this prohibited the CFI from approving ANY further transactions.
* William Campbell brought documented evidence of criminal activity to the FBI (including Mueller, then head of DOJ) well BEFORE the CFI approved the Uranium One deal. So the CFI either ignored the evidence brought before the DOJ, or the CFI didn’t know it existed, or it was bought off (bribed) to ignore, essential break the law cited above.
* Obama claims all’s well that ends well because he said none of the uranium in question was ever exported anyway. This is false. This lie was repeated by Shepard Smith on Fox News, Clinton herself and other MSM news outlets, but it is fake news. Records and documents from the Nuclear Regulatory Agency indicate that many tons of uranium from Uranium One was in fact exported to Canada for enrichment AFTER this deal was ratified, which was then in turn, exported to Europe and then it was lost track of from there. No one knows where it ended up. It could have gotten in the hands of the Norks, ISIS or Iran for all anyone knows at this point. We don’t know where it went and we will never know. But it was IN FACT exported to Canada (apparently Obama doesn’t think exporting to Canada is exporting to a foreign country) and sold on the open market by the Russians.
* Hillary Clinton says this allllll has already been settled (adjudicated was the exact word she said, also she said this has been “asked and answered” - this is the crux of her defense) but none of this has been answered. If the CFI was aware, or should have been aware, of criminal activity of any foreign investors in question, it would have and should have killed the deal immediately by operation of federal law.
* Sessions tried to make the claim that the crimes by the foreign investors occurred AFTER the Uranium One deal, and this is true. This is also is the crux of the issue, but Campbell has documented video as well as memos and other documents of evidence of criminality also well before the CFI approval, as well as the indictments. Sessions refers to the indictments as indictments of Tenex, not Rosatom, but now we know Tenex is owned by Rosatom as the financial negotiating arm of its company, which is also shown in documents by Campbell’s six year long investigation.
* Clinton says she was not alone in approving this illegal deal. However, even tho it required approval of the entire body of the CFI, she was the head of it. It was her judgment alone that pushed this through the CFI. And she alone received the kickback (bribe money after the fact) for it.
* however, prior to CFI approval of Uranium One, Bill Clinton received $500,000 from the Atomic Energy Authority in Russia. Then the deal was approved. Then the Clinton Foundation received $125 million from Rosatom.
* it is quite probable that our own domestic uranium supply has been used to develop nuclear weapons by North Korea and ISIS, which could have been sold to them by Russia directly from this Uranium One deal that Clinton illegally approved.
* if any American is hurt by these weapons, it is her fault.
