All sources of energy are controlled by the "low hanging fruit" concept wherein we acquire the easiest sources first and leave the rest for later, only later has now arrived. It progressively takes more and more energy to acquire a given unit of new energy, and we finally reach the point that we must expend more energy to get a unit of energy than is in the unit acquired, leaving no net energy, and the industrial age collapse because it is heavily dependent on energy.

Give it a decade or two at the most and we will be in the middle of a life and death struggle to survive, and that will make this fascists economic system intolerable. People will rise up, not out of some strong value in freedom or a sudden realization that they are being screwed, but out of desperation. It will be a Revolutionary War where not only must freedom loving people fight their rulers, but their neighbors who support government.
