Boomers just don't get (i'm replying primarily to fish dude here). Xers and Millies would never support world government or a global government. They would support an American Empire but only if it is a real empire like the Roman Empire was in it's day; not the current system of government by international committees and NGOs. The largest grouping that can govern is the NATION.

Globalism, as in "One World Government", is nonsense, in every way possible, and I certainly don't promote it.

Now, you ARE correct that Americans (of most stripes but not all) wouldn't mind an American Empire, if you "adjust" the definition of "empire" a bit.

An "acceptable" empire would be one where all nations are considered sovereign by "The Empire", but any nation that violates the Empire's "code of conduct of nations" (externally or internally) WOULD be surgically "assaulted" so as to "correct" their behavior.

Our "evolution" toward the aforementioned kind of "Empire" will happen, eventually, but it's so "cognitively dissonant" to most peoples minds that a whole SLEW of "personality changes" will have to occur in nearly the entire "First World" population before any movement toward it can begin. (I personally think that the 2nd to 3rd world populations would GLADLY welcome such an empire NOW!)

The ONLY way "around" the GD genocidal cycle is for such an "empire" to arise. My opinion is that we have at least another two cycles (~116 to 160 years) until a "legitimate" empire (as described) comes into being that can actually do "the job".

..of course I'm not taking into consideration "the Singularity" (or at least "the Freeing of Muscle" [via robots]), which would probably shorten that time frame quite a bit.

What do selfish boomers don't understand, when an Milosevic or an Assad or a Burmese junta does their thing; it is the people choice whether to intervene or which side to support. Under boomers the citizenry's rights on deciding such matters have been taken away from them. The boomer dominated government instead implements IT'S choice without asking the citizens for permission. That is unacceptable to Xers and Millies therefore Xers and Millies are demanding those rights back.

I think (?) that your premise is that Boomers make rules that the following generations will eventually overrule.

In that I believe you're correct.

But that's obvious. What's the real question, or statement, that you're trying to make?
