The first action by China will be the equivalent of the German
invasion of Czech oslovakia, and it will be met with anxious
appeasement.

The second action by China will be the equivalent of the German
invasion of Poland, and it will be the start of war.

If they attacked Taiwan, we would have no choice but to respond, like the invasion of Poland. Who would we throw under the bus under those circumstances before that?
