It's now become clear that for Biden and his insane clown posse, "being tough" on China means intentionally crossing red lines in hopes of starting World War III.

If we didn't lose the moral high ground to China before, we have now.
How have we lost the moral high ground?
By putting our noses where they don't belong, and for being a pot that likes to call kettles black on the issue of imperialism and foreign interventionism.

I’ll throw out that containment is good, conquest is bad. One should not try to subdue or dominate other cultures, and that is as true in Taiwan as in the Ukraine. That leaves a quite clear line between China and Taiwan. Who is threatening to invade who? Making containment clear as US policy might be nice. Standing against invasion is a good thing.

A century ago with a communist revolution trying to end the way the warlords treated the people, I could see the continued hostility during Mao’s lifetime. Well before World War II, I had a great uncle who served in the US navy with his light cruiser stationed in China. I have a notebook full of his old pictures with descriptive titles like “It is easy to lose one’s head in China” and "The death of 1,000 cuts". (One can imagine what the pictures illustrate.) One picture shows the ‘proper’ way to treat female students. In the foreground one such student has her severed head under her arm. The sword is coming down on the girl next in line. The next girls in line are being held ready. Many similar pictures. Things weren’t nice back then. Life was cheap. Death was often painful. Hatred and a desire to eliminate the ugly remnants of warlord rule was once quite understandable. If America didn't treat Native Americans, Blacks, Asians, Irish, Italians etc well, China took it to a great extreme. One might go so far as to consider the Great Leap Forward a great leap forward.

Thing is, modern Taiwan does not treat the people like the old warlords did. Given human rights and true democracy, Taiwan treats its people better than China does, comparably with much of the West. The old valid reasons for hating the old warlords no longer apply. If a message should be sent it is "get over it."

Thanks Higg for taking the time to clear that up. And I was absolutely serious about account deletion. There's been no genuine effort at reform. I suppose you have admin power or should have soon. Any word how John's doing?

John hasn't updated me since he posted here about a week ago. I watch his login activity, as others here can and have. He logged in again this morning and cleaned up some spam, which keeps me hopeful.
While the periphery breaks down rather slowly at first, the capital cities of the hegemon should collapse suddenly and violently.

It's a long game. It won't be a simple response. Don't get your hopes up, stock up your pantry.

Well, then. Looks like the moral high ground is once again in play. The longer China waits before attacking Taiwan, the less likely it keeps the moral high ground in its grasp.

Moral high ground? It's either a democratic country or not.
Seems cut and dried. They don't consider it anything besides a rogue province. It's not even a question for discussion for them. They're crazy about it.
Watch the practice blockade. Maybe it will become real if the opportunity arises. There's plenty of opportunities for a misunderstanding and mistakes. It's getting real
