So Afghans will be landing in blighty for a new peaceful life.

“Here, take my chair and feast on the goodness that my wife has prepared tonight. “

The Germans tried to do that in 2015. I remember being in Berlin around that time. They thought that by opening their hearts (and wallets) that they could solve the migrant crisis.

It actually got them nothing but trouble & lost Mutti her job.

I've heard the same analysis on Fox, MS-NBC, and the BBC, so I'm
pretty sure that it's right, even though it's the analysis that Trump
has provided.

The following steps should have been taken in the following order:
  • Remove the Americans and civilians
  • Remove the diplomats
  • Remove the weapons
  • Remove the armed forces.
Instead, these steps were pursued in reverse order, starting with the
disastrous closing of Bagram airbase in the middle of the night,
leaving large inventories of weapons in the hands of the Taliban.

This was not just an American mission. It was a NATO mission. If you
listen to the BBC, the Brits are heartbroken and furious at Biden for
destroying the entire NATO mission without even consulting with the
other countries. They're talking about a new alliance of European
countries combined with Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.
I think after 4 wars stretching back to the Victorian era the Pashtuns are feeling pretty confident.

What would negatively affect you the most? If a person known for bullyish and self serving behavior acts like a self serving bully? Or a person who is one of your own, who you supported completely betrays you? Trump and Biden from the English/European perspective.

The ramifications of this are truly staggering, and unbelievably, Biden is now more of a Nationalist than Trump.

Regards,
Jack.

In all the news and associated announcements, evacuations, loss of life and likelihood of more yet to come, it was perhaps predictable that the only voices or comment nobody has read, heard of or seen, is from the two war mongers themselves, Bush and Blair. A curse and eternal damnation on both of you.

Well ok, but I'm not sure how comforting that news would be to the
citizens of Seoul who have been in this forum in the past and
expressed fear of a North Korean attack. Isn't there an old joke to
be repeated here -- if you're killed by not-well-modernized equipment,
you're just as dead.
I lot of NK equipment is 30+ years old and may not even work anymore. Same for ammunition which can break down and become ineffective. Most militaries spend a lot of money keeping equipment and munitions up to date. My expectation is that in an actual war a lot of the material NK has would simply not work at all. That said, NK does have a lot of stuff aimed at Seoul and even if half failed, it's a lot of explosives on the way.

I still believe that attacking South Korea is not the number one priority of NK and that it will threaten and bluster up the point of war, but no further.

According to this poll (results shown on the map) 50% of Republicans and 45% of independents in the southern states support secession from the United States.

What are the feelings of the readers about how close we are to something more life changing than the pandemic? We've had what could be seen as multiple massive events in a short period of time. We're at the end of the era and it's not here yet but really, we can feel it now and it's a part of our daily lives. Just 2-3 years ago it wasn't half this bad. It's happening fast and getting faster.
Please John give your estimation on the speed of the unravelling because it's uncomfortably quick now. Thank you

I’m not John, but I’ll post my own guess.

At best, within 4 years. At worst, by the end of this year.
