An Empire taxes other governments. The US taxes other governments with an inflation tax. So I claim it does fit the definition of an empire. A most sneaky one really. They are extracting tribute in such a way that most citizens of most countries don't even notice. They are printing so much money that the inflation tax rate is just going to be too high for these other governments to accept any longer.

There seems to have been a deal with the Arab oil countries that if they used dollars they US military would defend them. Other countries may have deals where if they hold X dollars as central bank reserves the US will defend them. But as the US military gets weaker, and Iran, China, etc get stronger, and the effective price of this US protection money keeps going up, it will not seem like a good deal at some point.

So it seems the empire will soon fall apart.

Old news for a new day.
Confindustria, the business federation, said 29pc of Italian firms cannot meet "operational expenses" and are starved of liquidity. A "third phase of the credit crunch" is underway that matches the shocks in 2008-2009 and again in 2011.
In a research report the group said the economy was caught in a "vicious circle" where banks are too frightened to lend, driving more companies over the edge. A thousand are going bankrupt every day.

Huge black hole in the current wave seven of nine. Forums already covered what is to be on who and why.

And as you say that tax is increasing exponentially at a time when the rest of the world can least afford it, with no indication Bernanke will be curbed. I don't see any choice for the rest of the world but to fight back. All that for a stock and bond market bubble while people around the world scrounge for food in trash cans. I agree also with your assessment that the bond bubble will burst now.

While the periphery breaks down rather slowly at first, the capital cities of the hegemon should collapse suddenly and violently.

2013.03.15 (Baqubah, Iraq) - al-Qaeda gunmen invade a home, tie a man and his three sons up and execute them in cold blood.
2013.03.15 (Ariel, Israel) - Two brutal rock attacks by Arabs leave a baby severely injured. Other victims include her two sisters, ages 6 and 4.
2013.03.14 (Gwoza, Nigeria) - A civilian is killed during a raid on a prison by 'Allah Akbar' shouting gunmen, shortly after they prayed at a mosque.
2013.03.14 (Baghdad, Iraq) - A coordinated Fedayeen attack on a government building leaves two dozen dead.
2013.03.13 (Orangi Town, Pakistan) - A female social worker is murdered by Religion of Peace gunmen.
2013.03.13 (Kunduz, Afghanistan) - A Fedayeen bomber self-detonates at a polo game, killing at least ten spectators.

Money will stream in since we are the last stand and the Chinese know this also. They should be arm twisting the problem so yea they
lift that load over there with that lunatic. Putin is the wild card and the analysis I read was he fears the southern corridor approach.
No reason why these people cannot wake up as the life raft called earth at this time does not need any more holes poked in it.
Pray for water, wheat, and good weather.

Today was the peak of the stock bubble in my opinion. Throwover from Monday. Semis often lead on the way down. I took the chart back a year to show the same type of thing from late March 2012.

The illusion of choice began the moment Kennedy's brains landed in Jackie's lap.
Genius.

Otherwise aedens...weather-wise, it's awesome here in Vegas. 8-)

Heat wave here it hit 39 F and the sun was out for 30 seconds then rain the rest the day.
Other than that the boss asked if I ate yet. I was stunned into total submission after 33 years
of marriage.

Anyway, it will be very difficult to survive the next four years with what is known in the pipeline
of these current beyond ignorant taxpayers have supported with the dire moral illness in what these
demoncrats have unleashed on America. I can see the insular view the right has wrapped themselves
in but the hubris to save Afghans from themselves was a fools task and it cost them the election. You
create more issues than you solved on the proverbial headcount red team. The only process ongoing is the fear
inside the democrats have also since they know now if they even have brain which a few do what has been
unleashed. You trot out jeb now or later and we will ridicule until Christs return. All is not well with the spin
masters and they damn well know it. Seneca was correct as so goes the morals so goes the nation and we
are in extreme stress to get that point to dismiss these animals. We can see what is, and what will be since
the book has been written for times as these. For those wronged we can only offer our sincere prayers to heal the
heart to save the mind.

Any one of those events would be a bloody nightmare but those can be anticipated and avoided.

What can not be anticipated and avoided is two or more at the same time.

China has a curse: "May your children live in interesting times".

Our children are already living in interesting times.

Many of our children, and even more of their seniors shall not survive these times.

Have Her talk to private equity for pointers how to destroy a lemon aid stand since you will never be
allowed to compete anymore anyway.
