The top donor to the super PAC backing Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed holds leadership positions in two organizations the federal government linked to Hamas financing, and he happens to be El-Sayed's father-in-law.
Tayeb Jukaku, a kidney doctor who immigrated from India, has poured $200,000 into the Fighting for Michigan PAC, which supports El-Sayed's Democratic primary bid. That sum accounts for nearly half of the $478,125.68 the PAC had raised as of March 31, according to Federal Election Commission records. At the same time, Jukaku sits on the 20-member founding committee of the Islamic Society of North America, an organization federal prosecutors named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terror-financing case in American history.
A Washington Free Beacon investigation by Alana Goodman traced Jukaku's overlapping roles across ISNA, the Council on American-Islamic Relations' Michigan chapter, and the El-Sayed-aligned super PAC, a web of affiliations that raises pointed questions about a candidate who campaigns on getting "money out of politics."
ISNA was founded in 1982 as an outgrowth of the Muslim Students Association. Lorenzo Vidino, director of the Program on Extremism at George Washington University, told the Free Beacon the group:
"was historically, no question, an organization created... by the Muslim Brotherhood and fellow travelers from the Indian subcontinent as basically the Islamist organization in America."
That characterization is not merely academic opinion. In the 2007 prosecution of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, once described as the largest Muslim charity in the United States, federal prosecutors identified ISNA as one of eight entities "who are and/or were members of the US Muslim Brotherhood." The Holy Land Foundation's founders were convicted of funneling more than $12 million to Hamas.
ISNA held a joint bank account with the Holy Land Foundation. Deposits into that account, a federal court ruling noted, were "often made payable to 'the Palestinian Mujahadeen,' the original name for the Hamas military wing."
When ISNA and CAIR challenged their designation as unindicted co-conspirators, a federal judge ruled in July 2009 that the Department of Justice had provided "ample evidence" linking both organizations to Hamas. The co-conspirator labels stood.
A 1991 memo from the Shura Council of the Muslim Brotherhood, entered into the court record, described the council's work in the United States as "a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and sabotaging its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all other religions." ISNA was identified in that memo as a member group.
Yes people are stupid.
