Re: Financial topics
Hi Richard,
Phong works for me. As of now, the futures are up about 1% and the DXY is down 0.65%, I expect this trend to continue throughout this week with the DXY possibly backtesting the 105 breakout and the S&P using this to close the gap around 4030, so another 3.5% up. Also, DXY is weakening in anticipation of ECB rate hike on July 21st before it will strengthen again with the Fed end of July. The more I watch the daily tickers, the more I can almost grasp the invisible hand of the algorithms as they trade for their arbitrage profits and the interconnected play of all the markets. Catching the timing of the changes is a different thing though and I haven't fully decided if I'm a daytrader or a longer term trader.
Cheers

Meanwhile, Die kalte Sonne here reports on how wind energy installation is moving along only at a snail’s pace, and so will never be able to rescue Germany from its accelerating energy demise:
“Germany’s government The expansion of wind energy is making only snail-like progress. The German Tagesschau reports, but forgets to clarify that the 57,000 megawatts are rated nominal capacity. While this could theoretically be achieved, in practice it almost never is.

German government asked the US nuclear fuel manufacturer, Westinghouse, an established supplier of German nuclear plants, whether it could make fuel rods on short notice. Westinghouse managers said they could — and that they could deliver them by the end of 2022.
Chancellor Scholz & Economy Minister Habeck say Germany’s nuclear plants can’t keep running past Dec. 2022 for lack of fuel rods,
but they are lying.

With its dependence on energy imports to the tune of 90% of its needs, Japan’s economy will always be adversely affected by the rising energy import bill. But when the yen is much weaker than before against the dollar, this adds substantially to its energy bill.
That is why Japan is continuing to buy Russian crude and LNG thus further blunting Western sanctions and attempts to recap prices of Russian energy exports.

An act of Congress on July 16, 1790 (1 Stat. 130) established a Federal district for the seat of the United States government along the Potomac River on lands donated by Virginia and Maryland. Stretching from Georgetown to the Anacostia River, and later including Alexandria, the new Federal territory was officially named the District of Columbia in 1796. The Federal government relocated to the District of Columbia from Philadelphia on December 1, 1800, with Congress exercising exclusive management and legislative control over the district via designated committees in the House and Senate.
As the national capital, the District of Columbia became the center for numerous charitable organizations and institutions, including the Freedmen's Bureau and Hospital, the Freedman's Bank, the Government Hospital for the Insane (St. Elizabeths), the Columbia Institution for the Instruction of the Deaf and Dumb and the Blind, and the Board of Children's Guardians. During the Civil War, the district also established the first Federal police force with the Metropolitan Police.
District of Columbia Reference Reports describe strategies to research these organizations as well as other topics, including the district in the Federal census, immigration into Alexandria and Georgetown, naturalizations, slavery in the Federal capital, congressional and district court records, military service during the Civil War, and DC building permits and city directories.

JAG spent 6 months, at the cost of 10,000 man-hours, collecting evidence for trial. On 1 May, JAG investigators quietly arrested Ayres at his Hyde Park home in Chicago, charging him with seditious conspiracy. He was processed and sent to Guantanamo Bay pending the outcome of a military tribunal, which took place on 12-13 May 2022.
He then asked the 3-officer panel tasked with weighing JAG’s case to consider the evidence. In an unusual turn of events, the panel spent 15 hours in deliberation, ultimately returning a verdict of guilty on the seditious conspiracy charge but not recommending a death sentence. Instead, it opined that Ayres, 77, spend 25 years in confinement at Guantanamo Bay’s Camp Delta detention center.
