Hi John!
Could you write something about the "Victory Mosque" at Ground Zero and how Generational Dynamics can explain the near treason-like attitudes of Obama, Bloomberg, et al ? Thanks.
And thank you for all your articles, I read them every day with great interest even if I don't comment.

Dear Raymonde,
but I don't think any of it yet rises to the level of treason. On the
one hand, you have a great deal of xenophobia, as well as a lot of
people who are genuinely offended by a mosque at Ground Zero. On the
other hand, you have the loony left that couldn't care less about the
mosque, but see it as an opportunity to humiliate the United States.
Meanwhile, no one gives a shit about the Greek Orthodox church that
used to stand near Ground Zero, and no one, certainly not the loony
left, has anything to gain by supporting it.

There are certainly a lot of politicians making fools of themselves,Raynote wrote:

"treason"???...I don't think so....perhaps "Raymonde" should read the US Constitution, and the Oath of Office...
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

I may have gone too far when I used the word "treason"... but English being a foreign language to me I sometimes use it awkwardly.
Re: 18-Aug-10 News -- The collapse of the Gaza tunnel economy
I understand you quite well. Advocating that our enemy plant their flag at the location of their greatest success on our soil may not technically constitute treason, but it is in the same ballpark.Raynote wrote:I may have gone too far when I used the word "treason"... but English being a foreign language to me I sometimes use it awkwardly.

The Constitution of the United States, which the President is sworn to defend, includes the First Amendment.

In my mind, it is in poor taste to build a mosque there - but not treasonous. It is certainly insensitive to those who lost their lives on 9/11.
In allowing a mosque to be built there, some may feel that the US is showing how "tolerant" it is as a nation.
Extremist muslims are at war with the US - they want the destruction of the US. The US, especially recently, doesn't act like it knows that it is at war. I expect that the average extremist muslim in the world will not see the building of a mosque as "tolerant" but rather as "weak and afraid". Allowing a mosque to built will be perceived as winning by the extremist muslim and will embolden them. This is the main reason it shouldn't be built.
Here is a link to an article I thought shared a different perspective on this issue. http://townhall.com/columnists/JonahGol ... sy_balloon
Talks about how this is a stupid argument that never should have seen the light of day. It's a no win situation politically.
