25-Mar-12 WV-Mali chaos leading to al-Qaeda state
Re: 25-Mar-12 WV-Mali chaos leading to al-Qaeda state
from the country studies part of this website, their last crisis war ended in 1898. It's been 114 years, so this is either among the longest mid-cycle periods in history or there's a crisis that we don't know about. Perhaps it's an "aborted" one the way that Britain's was during our civil war.
As for Egypt, things are getting ugly over there. It's been 56 years since their last crisis and this is the point where some kind of spark can set one off. About 1/4 of all crisis wars happen in the 56-61 year time frame. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

I appreciate the coverage of Mali. This is interesting and likely wouldn't make the headlines.
