Not only is China's economy rapidly slowing down, they have a problem they didn't have in previous crisis wars: their one-child policy. There are something like 100-120 million more young men than young women, which only makes matters worse. What are they going to do with all these young men? If their choices are to send them to war against the U.S. or to have a massive civil war at home, they will likely do the latter. I'm just waiting for their new General Secretary to take power and see what he does.

I read that they had something like 200,000 mass incidents in 2011 and that was when their economy was growing rapidly. If they contract, it could very well crash the world financial system.

It would be interesting if China falls into civil war. Of course attacking Mongolia or Taiwan is civil war in a sense, or perhaps interimperial war? It is certain they've got plenty of local targets to battle, they don't really need to reach overseas for a fight.

It's been mentioned that China is headed towards both a war with the U.S. and a civil war. however, that doesn't mean those wars are going to be fought at the same time. One scenario I could see is China falling into civil war, in which someone takes power, similar to Hitler or Stalin, and then prepares to wage war on the United States.

Great story regarding Greg Smith, former Goldman Sachs employee. However, I must respectfully ask: Isn't it rather a long time that Mr. Smith collected vocational and financial nourishment from the teat of the vaunted "vampire squid" before deciding that he needed to wean himself away from it due to its lacking the recommended daily allowances of moral nutrients?

Or, perhaps is everything here in the picture regarding Mr. Smith simply an outstanding example of the Generation-X way? —Best regards, Marc

People forget that the earcxttion of these rare earths have been at the expense of China's environment. The Japanese have large supplies of the rare earths as they have been stockpiling them for years. Even if the Chinese were to limit or stop exports they would be entirely within their rights. The USA and Europe have a ban on high-tech exports to China that the former claim could have dual-use functions. China could likewise say the same about rare-earths and keep whatever they have remaining for their own industry. People forget that the USA even had a ban of the export of graphite (e.g. pencil lead) to Iraq siting the fact that it could be used in anti-radar coatings.
