War in Space

Post by Navigator »

No doubt that space will be a theater of war. Very similar to World War One War in the air. Fighting over reconnaissance and intelligence assets (satellites in WW3). And of course the specter of attacks against civilian targets.

And no doubt, the hordes of illegals from south of the border will use all of their IT and robotic skills to help us win the fight...

(Bloomberg) -- A statement from China’s government urging local authorities to ensure there was adequate food supply during the winter and encouraging people to stock up on some essentials prompted concerned talk online, with people linking it with the widening coronavirus outbreak, a forecast cold snap, or even rising tensions with Taiwan.

The Ministry of Commerce urged local authorities to stabilize prices and ensure supplies of daily necessities including vegetables this winter and next spring, according to a statement Monday evening. Chinese households were also encouraged to stock up on a certain amount of daily necessities in preparation for the winter months or emergencies.
And what does this look like to y'all?

If they don't need it this winter, it will probably become a regular program of prudent preparation. We should be encouraging our people to do the same

If people haven't started prepping by now, it's way too late. They should have started stockpiling food, water (and water filters), and acquiring skills back in 2008, at the latest. The ones who haven't are about to learn a very harsh lesson.

From my seat in the bleachers, it sure looks like they are prepping their population for war.

'Unprecedented nuclear buildup': Concerns as China missile silos show progress

The first silo field was discovered in China in June this year. Another report a second field was discovered in July, prompting the US Strategic Command to tweet about "the growing threat the world faces and the veil of secrecy that surrounds it".

China has made significant progress at three sites, suspected to be missile silo fields, which have western experts concerned. The three sites are located near Yumen, Hami and Ordos in north-central China.

Their progress is being monitored by Federation of American Scientists (FAS), a US-based non-partisan policy think tank. They have studied the progress at the three missile sites through commercial satellite images provided by Planet Labs and Maxar Technologies.

These images offer the most detailed pictures yet of the three sites, where FAS believes China is constructing 300 new missile silos.

The FAS researchers believe that the pace of construction gives them confidence that they are related to Chinese military's modernisation programme. The progress has been reported almost on a weekly basis, said FAS.

"For China, this is an unprecedented nuclear buildup," Matt Korda and Hans M Kristensen, the authors of FAS report said on Tuesday, adding that is raises questions and uncertainty about China's minimum nuclear deterrent and policies.

The authors, however, added, "The apparent missile silo fields are still many years away from becoming fully operational and it remains to be seen how China will arm and operate them."

Both Korda and Kristensen fear the rapid pace at which the silos are being constructed could increase nuclear competition and fuel worst-case planning in other nuclear weapon states.

The first silo field was discovered in June this year. Another report a second field was discovered in July, prompting the US Strategic Command to tweet about "the growing threat the world faces and the veil of secrecy that surrounds it".

FAS had then said that these sites signify "the most significant expansion of the Chinese nuclear arsenal ever". It added that this is the most extensive silo construction since the US and Soviet missile silo construction during the Cold War.

Chinese military builds mock targets in shape of American aircraft carrier, warships

UNDATED (WKRC/CNN NEWSOURCE) - China's military is using mock American warships as targets.

That's according to the United States Naval Institute.

The USNI reviewed satellite images from Maxar Technologies and says they show mock targets shaped like American aircraft carriers and ships in a Chinese desert in Southwest Xinjiang.

One of the three mock-ups appeared to be a Ford-class aircraft carrier, which is currently being constructed for the US Navy.

The USNI says China has repeatedly used the area for its ballistic missile testing.

I've seen a few news stories about this on tv, but no one seems to
address the obvious point: The reason that targeting an aircraft
carrier is difficult is because once the ballistic missile reaches its
target, the aircraft carrier has already moved.

So unless the mock aircraft carrier is on wheels, then I don't see how
useful it is.

CV Targeting

Post by Navigator »

I believe the Chinese think that they will have targeting data for American Carriers (CV in naval shorthand), which will allow them to course correct (their latest warheads are capable of being steered during re-entry), until the last seconds of their planned "Pearl Harbor at Sea".

So they are probably aiming somewhere else initially, and then trying to course correct and hit the target.

Of course, if they are using nuclear warheads, they only need to get reasonably close.
