Elon Musk has overtaken Jeff Bezos to become the richest man in the world, CNBC reported. The Tesla founder's wealth reaches $185 billion.
Musk was entering 2020 with a fortune valued at $27 billion and barely making it into the top 50 richest people in the world. The following months, however, brought a frenzied rally in Tesla shares, whose valuation has already reached $755 billion. The company closed the entire year 2020 at 743% plus. The company is responsible for most of Musk's wealth.
Also on Thursday, since the beginning of the session, Tesla's shares rose strongly (by 5 percent), which allowed Musk to overtake the current leader of the ranking - Jeff Bezos. His wealth currently reaches 184 billion dollars. Although Amazon is also in the black today, the scale of growth does not exceed 2 percent.
Bill Gates with a wealth of 132 billion dollars completes the podium. It is worth adding that Musk has gained more since the beginning of 2020 than the aforementioned Gates has in total.
