Because.

Progressivism and relativism serve as the means of achieving the goal of a citizenry with a statist orientation.
I myself had all sorts of fun in college with moral nihilism being distinct from moral relativism, which does allow a moral statements to be true or false in a non-objective sense, but does not assign any static truth to values of a moral statements, and of course moral universalism, which holds moral statements to be objectively true or false. Insofar as only true statements can be known, moral nihilism implies moral skepticism.

The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.8 percent
in April on a seasonally adjusted basis after rising 0.6 percent in March, the
U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over the last 12 months, the
all items index increased 4.2 percent before seasonal adjustment. This is the
largest 12-month increase since a 4.9-percent increase for the period ending
September 2008.

** 12-May-2021 World View: Taiwan Stock Exchange crashes on leverage unwinding

Image
  • Margin calls / Market leverage -- 2011-pressent -- Taiwan stock exchange

This is EXACTLY the kind of thing that causes a major financial panic
and crash -- when the market is over-leveraged with margin debt, and
the debts start to unwind.

The Taiwan stock exchange index crashed 9% on Wednesday, due to panic
over unwinding leverage.

In this thread, we've previously talked about the possibility of a
global financial panic on May 28, about 7 weeks past the end of first
quarter. This may be one step along that path.

Then you'll learn what the word "deflation" really means.

As per my other post, you are absolutely correct ... and this is the fragility of the debt world economy. But the fact remains that inflation has persisted over a long time too, with expansion of the monetary supply as well as price inflation, which should be lower since tech and efficiency should lower prices as a result over time.

Nobody expects real inflation, just "transitory". At some point in the next 9 months I think it will become impossible to keep pretending there is no inflation.

Yes, Vince, and when there is a public outcry about prices going higher (rent, gas, food) and the pressure is such that Powell et al may tighten a bit, the stock market will sink. Then guys like John will talk about "deflation"

I talk about it all.
