There were much fewer deaths, but it was heavily used by the government to crack down on that region. So people in China...

Inside China’s controversial mission to reinvent the internet
https://www.reddit.com/r/privacy/comments/gpb3o6/inside_chinas_controversial_mission_to_reinvent/ On a cool day late last September, half a dozen Chinese engineers walked into a conference room in the heart of Geneva’s UN district with a radical idea. Good overview of China: https://dailyreckoning.com/china-more-bark-than-bite/

Students in Tehran University take pains to avoid walking on the flags of U.S. & Israel
Students in Tehran University take pains to avoid walking on the flags of U.S. & Israel—as the regime forces people to do—and when two Basiji regime agents then make a point of trampling the flags, the crowds shout "Besharaf!" #بیشرف — the regime is shameless, dishonorable. https://twitter.com/UNWa...

When ‘Chinese People’s Feelings’ are the Only Feelings That Matter
Good article in The Diplomat about China's racism and view of their own superiority. Here are some quotes: What is troubling is that China’s nationalism is ethnic-based and built upon both cultural superiority and a narrative of victimhood. During cases of discrimination against ethnic Chinese and c...

Re: Teens use 'OK boomer' to fire back at older generations' criticisms
As a Gen-Xer I find these comment offensive. Especially as I listen to and have the greatest respect for the boomers in my family. At what point do we put aside generational sterotypes and listen? If I recall The Fourth Turning , doesn't each generational archetype have something to offer? Aren't Ge...
