Re: the near future for america

I think that a 2- or 3-sided civil war is unlikely. A big theme in this Crisis could very well be the breakdown of the nation-state, as allegiance to ideology replaces loyalty toward country. Of course, fighting would be along 4GW lines.

Re: Generational Crises and Methods for Evaluation

Dear Matt, You may remember Joel Bellenson from the old days. I don't. Did he have another username? Well, I just received the following message from him: > Where is the latest map from 'Matt1989' 'Michael Easton?' > Is it updated to include Bangladesh not being in Crisis state? > Also, I really th...

My guess is that Mexico and Japan are currently being merged with the Western timeline; Zimbabwe seems more due to government mismanagement.

Re: Economic Crises and Generational Theory

I had the same idea about a year ago, but I don't think the timing is quite right, as Britain was not in a 4T in 1720. (The USA supposedly caused 1857, but if you want to pinpoint Europe for other reasons, they were certainly not in a 4T either) As stated elsewhere, I think a few of the crash choice...

Re: Financial topics

Also, he's a progressive capitalist, not a socialist. Huge difference. This is a matter of semantics. Elementary schools teach socialism as an autocracy, but Karl Marx never believed that was possible. "Progressive capitalism" in a market crisis period is right from the playbook of Das Kapital . Mo...

Re: Financial topics

This is all nonsense. If Obama fixes the economy by the end of 2009 (quite a feat!), he'll be more popular than FDR ever was, and would be in a far better position to push through his programs.

Also, he's a progressive capitalist, not a socialist. Huge difference.

Re: Crisis War vs. Non Crisis was and impact on next generations

Toby, I'm afraid I don't have much of an explanation besides referring to the generational archetypes and their tendencies. Are you looking for something more?

Re: Crisis War vs. Non Crisis was and impact on next generations

I'm trying to better understand a Crisis War vs. a Non Crisis War and how they impact future generations, but I am having difficulty understanding why a a serious non-crisis war wouldn't lead to the same kinds of impact on society and it's members that a crisis war would have (and restart the gener...

Re: Afghanistan, Pakistan and India

The recent uptick in violence in Afghanistan signals that the Recovery Era is rapidly coming to an end. Violence will probably fizzle, but it won't be a cakewalk.

Re: Mexico

Oops . Juárez police chief Roberto Orduña Cruz resigned Friday after the drug cartel killed six city police officers this week and threatened to kill more unless he left the force. "I cannot place my sense of duty above the lives of my officers," said Orduña in a press conference. Orduña, a former ...
