Re: 4-Sep-10 News -- Food prices soar around the world
IN may day you could not graduate from the California public school system without passing a swimming test. As I recall, our high school class had to go down en masse to the Fleischacker Baths, which were cold seawater, for the lessons. I think swimming is a survival skill everyone should have to lea...

Did I understand you to say Russia is in a Generational Crisis Era? I thought they'd been through one in the 1990s -- or is it still going on? (counts on fingers) --- and that they were now 1T. Justin 77, who has lived and worked in Russia, seemed to confirm the notion that they were now 1T.

And the best of all possible sources for prices over the centuries is David Hackett Fischer's "The Long Wave." He uses basic commodity prices and runs his data back into the medieval era. One thing notable is that price data is not the smooth sine-wave curve one may imagine, but as he says, a wave, ...

That there were women involved in the Holocaust is no news to anybody my age or older, at least not to those whose parents followed the news and commented on it. The surprise is the number of volunteers who went out into the conquered territories as the article outlines. And in retrospect, the only ...

At least they know better than to try to invade us. They tried that back in the 20th Century and were wiped out by our diseases. Or -if you believe Howard Waldrop ("Night of the Cooters") - in Texas, by a bunch of cowboys who didn't want no alien critters coming in their town.

I put it down to the fact that we've been friends with Britain for 70 years. That's as far back as most people's conscious memory runs, or further.

Don't forget the Recession-Era custom of unemployed Millie children moving in with their parents, and Xer or Boomer children moving back in with or taking in *their* parents in order to look after them. In some cases the parents have both the kids and the elders living with them. I rather think this...
