Re: Financial topics

The FED has obviously wanted and even had directors stating that they want inflation to increase and the value of a dollar to drop. With all their manipulations they've not managed to inflate anything but stock prices, and even that is breaking down. If it wasn't for many companies going private or ...

Re: Financial topics

They want actual inflation of about 4% along with a rise in money supply and an end to deleveraging. They aren't getting it. Next shot in the cyberwar has been fired right at the USA. Direct hit too: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/09/technology/online-banking-attacks-were-work-of-iran-us-officials-s...

Re: 6-Jan-13 WV-South Korea refuses extradite arsonist to Ja

While the Internet makes it easy to create bartering networks, electronic currency is still currency and therefore will wind up with these folks being shut down, eventually. The complaint about scarce EURO's does help illustrate my old point about a money pump running from Greece outwards. If any co...

Re: 4-Jan-13 World View-Burma (Myanmar) warplanes strike reb

I expect I'll be hearing about blood rubies shortly, as Burma does supply gems to the international markets. Can there really be that many Chinese tourists buying baby formula in Australia? It seems incredible. Looking at Stoller's column on the bill, some is understandable, most isn't. The railroad...

Re: Financial topics

Given that what's been done is to set up a constant squabble about the budget that will be ongoing every other month for the rest of this year, we'll know what was actually budgeted and spent about the end of October, in other words after the end of the fiscal year. Which is going to keep markets in...

Re: Financial topics

The military budget request includes a 31 billion cut from last year. I doubt they'll be asked to do more than that. Funny not seeing any uniforms today, but all military in Iraq is now on detached duty. WSJ has a gimmick set up, balance the budget. As I've said before, it's not impossible save for ...

Re: Financial topics

With the lense with see as positive progression we know as the 19th century elaborated the concept of economic rent as that element of price which found no counterpart in actual cost of production and hence was “unearned.” It was a form of economic overhead that added unnecessarily to prices. In 18...

Re: Financial topics

I know it's shocking, but Obama is not a dictator. When it comes to spending, the nation gets what Congress approves. All any President can do is what's authorized in the budget. Which is what makes this debt ceiling business so ridiculous, Congress is saying "we voted to spend this money already, b...

Re: Financial topics

The ball has dropped in Baghdad, so Happy New Year everyone. I just had a fellow tell me I was a fool to expect a vote to pass on the "fiscal cliff" meeting before midnight, and I had to agree with him. What he said was that before we run off the cliff, a vote on any of the proposed bills will be a ...
