CDC uncovers a new swine flu

Two children have been infected by new types of swine flu. Unlike flu viruses in the past that have jumped from pigs to humans, these have a gene from the pandemic 2009 H1N1 (swine) flu. The CDC is continuing to investigate, but so far no other cases have been reported. http://news.consumerreports....

A lack of oxygen makes it difficult for cells to burn fuel and carry out whatever functions they are designed to do. t does not cause DNA changes, which (as far as we know at this time) are what lead to cancer. Having seen what hydrogen peroxide does when applied to flesh, I would not willingly inge...

I'm tellin ya, the germ-o-phobes will be the first to croak. Besides, flu viruses don't just live in bathrooms. They're everywhere. Paper towels don't stop the transmission of pathogens either. On a serious note, if people are really concerned, my suggestion is to avoid touching any part of your fac...

Nations urge WHO to change swine flu assessment
Some member nations are anxious to avoid having the agency declare a swine flu pandemic, because the ramifications of that scientific decision could be very costly and politically charged.

Re: Swine Flu Pandemic - Preparation

Thanks for posting this. I had mentioned this as a possibly in my first weblog article on swine flu a month ago, but I didn't mention it again because it seemed too alarmist. I mentioned it also, when talking about how it might be a good idea to catch this virus before it mutates into something wor...

Top flu expert warns of a swine flu-bird flu mix This is the scenario that has some scientists worried: The two viruses meet — possibly in Asia, where bird flu is endemic — and combine into a new bug that is both highly contagious and lethal and can spread around the world. Re: Swine Flu Pandemic - Preparation

Denial? I'm not in denial. But if I'm going to suggest taking action to protect oneself, I'll make darned sure that it will actually be helpful first. Right now, the best thing that you can probably do is get exposed to this virus, and try to get some natural antibodies going, before it mutates into...

Re: Swine Flu Pandemic - Preparation

When you get the flu, your body makes antibodies to it which stick around for a while. However, each antibody type is specific to each flu type. If the flus are similar enough, the antibodies will work to at least some degree. How much depends on how close the two viruses are antigenically, and your...
