Re: Default
We tried all this during the Depression and it didn't work. I don't see it working this time, either.

Re: 8-Dec-11 World View - Pressure builds on euro summit mee
Making comparisons between this and Germany's Nazi past is interesting; wonder how many of those countries will be fighting against them in the future. Much as I hate to say it, with Syria, I think the older generation is going to win. They're going for the Chinese response to protests and I don't k...

Re: A further question re: Europe
Yeah, I learned firsthand the kind of hatred they have for each other. I knew a person from Cyprus and... well, her words were a bit scary. We'll probably get dragged into that war as well. Hmm, we'll be fighting in the Pacific, in Europe, and the Middle East. This is going to be a fun decade.

Re: Default
I see 2012 as the year that the true panic sets in, when Greece defaults, affecting the rest of Europe and by extension, us. It'll accelerate the decline of the rest of the European states, and could motivate us to pass the 2012 version of Smoot-Hawley. Ironically, it's the only area where the two p...

Re: A further question re: Europe
One thing I'm expecting is another war between Greece and Turkey. I mentioned in a previous thread the kind of hatred they hold towards each other. France and Germany will likely be fighting each other again, and while this is only a guess, i think Britain will side with Germany. The others... I rea...

Re: A question
I personally don't see the war coming for maybe 3-4 years, but I do think it'll happen, and I hope we're at least making some preparations, although considering that I see the heads of the people in charge (of both parties) stuck in a snug place, I'm not real hopeful. We have numerous advantages in ...

Re: Default
Seems almost unimaginable. I've looked at Italy and they are where Greece is about 14 months ago. Portugal is about 6 months behind them, at least the last time I looked. I admit, I don't expect the world war until a couple years after the financial meltdown, meaning I have a couple more years to li...

Well, no matter what, Greece is done for. I expect them to be in official default sometime early next year. Next will be Portugal, Iceland, and then Italy and Spain, and then the collapse. One thing I am wondering is: why is this proceeding slower than the Depression? I have a couple ideas about tha...

Re: A further question re: Europe
Speaking for myself, I can easily see France and Germany fighting each other once again. We'll probably be on Britain's side, but I don't know who they are going to side with.

Re: A question
Dear Trevor, > Just wondering: Is Howe familiar with Generational Dynamics? I've pretty much given up on all of those guys. They consider Generational Dynamics to be an apostasy, as if The Fourth Turning were like the Koran, the inviolable word of Allah. John Yeah, I've heard you mention Cassandra....
