Re: Inflation, deflation, gold and currencies

If you'd read the article, perhaps you'd be a little less quick to assume that both positions in the inflation/deflation debate have merit. I've yet to see any engagement at all from the deflation camp people with the main arguments of the hyperinflation camp. That is, I've yet to see anyone attempt...

Re: Inflation, deflation, gold and currencies

http://finance.fortune.cnn.com/2011/04/22/forget-patriotism-dump-the-dollar-go-long-the-loonie/ This is a good article about the ongoing crash of the dollar. In order for Xenakis and Bernanke to be right, the dollar would have to get a lot *stronger*. Obviously opinions will vary on this, but I thin...

Re: Financial topics

I agree; that is very useful info. Thanks.

Anyone care to make a guess as to the timing of the next panic?

Though I suppose for those of you invested in the various markets it might be more of a wager than a guess, eh? :)

Re: Financial topics

I keep meaning to quit posting here for a while, but did anyone else notice that the stock market and the yield rate on 30-year US treasury bonds have been decoupling this week? That's very out of the ordinary, and major bad news if it keeps up, which it may well. Also, I still think Higgenbotham wa...

Re: Financial topics

I'm going to mostly go back to lurking here, but it's worth pointing out that a) Vince's argument here is decisive. He's established his point conclusively, and at this point any reasonable person should be able to see that the evidence shows overwhelmingly that he is right. Fiat currencies are fund...

Re: Financial topics

that's just you being stubborn and refusing to listen to contradictory evidence. You're a moron. Well, I'm glad to see you dealt with the substance of my claims. Very professional. I'm convinced. To my way of thinking, catalyst events provide the energy required to shift the phase from unravelling ...

Re: Financial topics

Yipe, sorry this took me so long. This still doesn't yet look like a full blown generational crisis period. I found an interview with Neil Howe (linked below) where he seems to indicate we're still on the cusp of the generational crisis era. He seems to think we're a little further along than I do, ...

Re: Financial topics

I'll have a more in depth response to everyone later tonight, but for the moment, there's this: http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/retail/2011-03-30-wal-mart-ceo-expects-inflation_N.htm U.S. consumers face "serious" inflation in the months ahead for clothing, food and other products, the head ...

Re: Financial topics

Yipe, lots of things to respond to. :) I'll address all of these many interesting things in the detail they need when I get back later today, but for now, don't the markets look awfully crashy? It seems like they're getting pulled sharply in two different directions these last few days.
