If North Korea sasses China very much, they'll simply invade and take over. That's just how China does business, and they are ready for another expansionist phase, they've made that very clear. In their last expansionist phase, they took control of some fairly large territory around their borders, t...

Re: Financial topics
You appear to be claiming the the identity equations of macro economics are not true. Not only am I NOT claiming that. I do not even have a clue as to what you were trying to say when you wrote that. Ok what are you saying then? Exactly what incorrect thing have I said that keeps you so angry with ...

Re: Financial topics
Odd you believe I believe it because you repeat DNC talking points that you are smart enough to realize are pure fiction. I believe it because you cite historical debt levels and then claim current debt levels are within the norm. I give you the benefit of the doubt and believe that you are smart e...

Evidence?
Seems to me that NK could be warning China to back off the notion of attacking them. Vietnam and North Korea are the two nations in the region that have no rational reason to rely on the US umbrella of protection. One or the other will probably go down within 24 months.

I have to think they mistranslated "will" as "knowledge" in that article about the Phillipines. I strongly believe the US will not go to war with China for Vietnam unless Vietnam manages to sign a mutual defense treaty before China attacks. I also strongly believe the US would fight in whatever mann...

Re: 19-Jan-13 World View -- China's directive: Get Ready for
Vietnam would likely fall very quickly, I don't know how long resistance would be active nor how active. Remember that China is not part of the Western civilization, they have a totally different tradition as regards conquered countries. Repression of resistance is very brutal and they are willing t...

Re: Financial topics
Odd you believe that, because the most you've ever backed to the best of my recall was the sequester, and that's only about 1/8 of the deficit next year. I wanted and said several times that I wanted the tax cuts to totally expire for everyone, and that's about half the deficit. But here, show me wh...

Re: 19-Jan-13 World View -- China's directive: Get Ready for
At one time, I thought they were going to wait a couple more years while we disarm. Now I'm getting less and less confident of that. Our key vulnerability is cyberattack. We're still not doing as much as we should to protect ourselves, but we're finally taking action and it looks like some of our l...

Re: Financial topics
That was kind of my point, since things have to balance between countries, we can't do it all at once. We cannot have negative trade balances without increasing debt somewhere. Given that baby boomers have had a huge scare and are scrambling to save money for retirement suddenly, that the new entrie...

Re: Financial topics
If we quit creating money and we don't spend more than we save, then we have to quit running a negative trade balance. While I'd prefer we did those things, it's not something that can be done rapidly, because it would create a massive world wide depression. Unwinding this mess is going to take time...
