I've read in history books how the Chinese always think in the long term, but I haven't seen any evidence of it. The Chinese were clear cutting ancient forest that had been protected by the Manchus after the 1911 revolution for a quick buck. The Chinese have poisoned there own water supply. Even the dirt in China is toxic. China has left itself with only two options: invade other nations and steal their resources or die of thirst and hunger.

In the 1930s as people took gold out of the Fed, the Fed had to withdraw money from circulation as the law only allowed them to have 2.5 times as much paper money as they had gold backing it. It was undoing the injection of new Fed money made during the roaring 20s. This was deflationary. Do you have any other generational examples of deflation? It seems like the 1930s deflation was a result of the Fed and not some generational thing.

Currently food and energy are going up in price, maybe like 5% per year. If a bank pays you 0.5% and a fee of $2 when you use the ATM then you are better off buying extra cans of Tuna, etc., than putting your money in the bank. Eventually people notice they are better off buying things than putting their money in the bank. This will make the velocity of money go up.

When bad news, because of government, is greeted as good news, be concerned.
With half of US citizens (not to mention millions of illegals) on some form of government assistance, and at least 52% of employed people working for the government, how many actual worker bees are there? What does that translate to? 1 in 5 Americans pay into the tax base? (Civil servants just recycle taxpayer money back into the system.) If you ask me, America's hanging by a thread. What happens when the product base of the country bails out?
