My own estimate is that computers will be powerful enough to fully implement the architecture that I developed by the early 2020s, ant that the Singularity will occur around 2020. However, if the Jeopardy! challenge proceeds as planned, then it may turn out the 2030 date will have to be moved closer by a few years.

First a little typo. Where you have "occur around 2020" it seems you meant to have "occur around 2030".

You sometimes point out that the actions of a single politician can't change the generational cycle. I think the singularity is like this. What IBM does today probably does not really change when the singularity will come. :-)

Thanks for the correction.

That would be true if IBM were working alone, but researchers around
the world are all working on Singularity-related technology,
especially for warfare. What IBM has done that's unique is bring
forward this Jeopardy application.
