One message being sent to the West is that Russia will be prepared to respond to US military action in Asia, if such every occurs.
ever

Any details on how Russia and China almost went to war in the 1960s?

"The reality of today's international politics is that a lot of people are playing "The Art of the Deal," and one can't be sure that anyone says what he means."

One MUST assume that everyone says BOTH what they mean and NOT what they mean, simultaneously.

So, actions, and especially "micro-actions", are the only "sensible" medium of communication.

Unfortunately, even "micro-actions" these days are like binary switches made from warm annoyed nitroglycerin,.. so communications have an "interesting" tendency to explode.

When the contrast between all "wannabe meaningful" signals approaches "no contrast" (signal to noise ratio closely approaches "1") then exploding switches can make for "explosive misunderstandings".

We can only hope that "leaders" use a better medium for comms between themselves than our "politicians" and "civilians" do.

I personally think they do. The trick is that they have to put on a "good show" for the "others" such that they aren't strung up by "the others" for betrayal.

..a damned tricky feat. Wish 'em luck!

Aloha nui. :) <shaka!>

Is Trump going to sell out Europe like the Allies sold out Eastern Europe in the Second World War? Any deal with Russians--on a personal level or a national one--is a deal with the devil.

You don't "deal" with Russians. You "allow" them to assist you to protect themselves.

They (the Russians) will have no other choice than to fall in with the non-Chinese.

As to what happens AFTER the war,.. I can't see that far, but I seriously doubt Trump will be making any decisions about anything at that time.
