The generational differences among the opposition are pretty stark. The young want street protests: some to to pressure for change and some to oust the government outright. The older generation from the traditional parties such Democratic Action abandoned street protests and pushed for a dialogue mediated by the Vatican. This is typical compromise seeking by people who remember the horrors under the Marcos Perez Jimenez dictatorship. For example, the current speaker of the house, Henry Ramos Allup was born in 1943 so remembers the previous crisis era, Venezuela's last dictatorship that ended in 1958. As long as this generation is in power protests seem to fizzle.

You can really see the disdain for the older generations strategies at Caracas Chronicles which is run by the younger generations (the equivalent to Gen X and Millennials). For example see: https://www.caracaschronicles.com/2017/ ... -dialogue/

I wonder if Venezuela is still in an Unraveling era or if it's just facing the paralysis in the early part of the Crisis. Thoughts?

Oh, please, spare me. You mean the " horrors" of the Jimenez regime like the elimination of vast slums, unprecedented economic growth, an expansion of medical services, modernization, paved roads, the expansion of public education, the growth of the middle class, and economic/social stability? Who told you about the 'horrors' of the regime, the communists?

The 'horrors" belong to the socialist/communists who have driven the country completely into the ground. Grow up, accept responsibilty for your own mistakes, or just die. Starve to death. Do everyone a favor and just die.
