From what I've been reading, the Orlando gunman was gay. He had been going to that gay club a couple of times a month for the last three years. Classmates at the police academy thought of him as gay, and one reported that the gunman had hit on him. It couldn't have been easy being a homosexual Moslem with a Islamic radical for a father.

I figure this would happen. Whatever story comes out initially turns out to be false. I think this will end up a story of unrequited homosexual love.

I have to hand it to you, John. You have to make due with the information you're given. So, any chance you might reconsider this bit of analysis?

The motive had nothing to do with ISIS and was motivated by homosexual angst.

You have to separate the motive from the act of revenge.

Someone suffering from unrequited love might kill his lover. Someone
who lost his job might kill is boss.

There always had to be some motive for Omar Mateen's actions, and at
the time I wrote this article, I didn't know what the motive was. But
the connection to ISIS was not in the motive, but in the choice of the
act of revenge.
