France's Sarkozy takes refuge in bar to hide from egg-throwing Basque separatists

I wonder whether they just quote what the president staff told them or if Basque separatists activists were really present. Here in France newspapers have reported Sarkozy was booed by socialists militants and/or common people. The notoriously conservative Figaro is the only newspaper speaking of "Basque separatists" repeating the version of Sarkozy ("violence by a small minority allied with those who hate France"). So I assume there were in fact no Basque separatists.
