Philippines' Duterte calls Obama 'son of a whore'

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte called Barack Obama a "son of a whore" on Monday as he vowed not to be lectured by the US leader on human rights when they meet in Laos.

The acid-tongued Duterte bristled at warnings he would face questioning by the US president over a war against drugs in the Philippines that has claimed more than 2,400 lives in just over two months.

"You must be respectful. Do not just throw away questions and statements. Son of a whore, I will curse you in that forum," Duterte told a news conference shortly before flying to Laos to attend a summit.

Duterte, 71, was elected in May after a promise to wage an unprecedented war on illegal drugs that would see tens of thousands of suspects killed.

"More people will be killed, plenty will be killed until the last pusher is out of the streets. Until the (last) drug manufacturer is killed, we will continue and I will continue," he said."

If you want to end the drug issue kill the users and the dealers. Sorry not PC.

Oh, sorry if the politicians and lawyers lose money. To bad.

Oh, and that is not right? Is it OK to rape 4 year old girls?

hmmm

Hi Thomas, is everyone in Seoul in a state of panic over the North
Korea nuclear test?

From those I am speaking with - no. Concern is starting to rise though that China is using north Korea as a proxy. As i've mentioned before, the ROK is more worried about China than they are north Korea. However, confusion is arising as to whether north Korea is acting totally upon their own, or if they're being "empowered" by Chinese handlers.

I have to say that surprises me a little. A lot of what I've read
gives me the feeling that the North is committing brinkmanship with
China as much as with South Korea and the US, and that the Chinese are
pretty pissed off at what the North is doing. One thing I've been
hearing for years is that the Chinese have little control over Kim
Jong-un, and that the nightmare scenario for China is a collapse of
the North's government, triggering a massive flood of refugees into
China.

You are correct and that is still the case, but, we all know that north Korea cannot (could not) survive is China would cut them off. So some think that China is publicly lamenting about Kim while simultaneously buttressing his regime. It allows them to maintain an arms length distance and, at a certain level, plausible deniability.

China is more worried about a unified Korea than a collapsed north Korea at this point. As you know, if north Korea was to collapse, more than likely, the Chinese would move in before the south or the USA could (the Chinese already have a good presence in the north). However, a unified south Korea, unified under south (western) influence, would be disaster for China.
