Yes, this is very disturbing situation, but interesting from the perspective of ancient history.
The Rama Empire existed many thousands of years ago in that part of the world.
One of it's ancient cities was Mohenjo -daro located in the Sind Province of Pakistan.
It was discovered and excavated in the early 20th century. During it's excavation it was discovered that some of the brick walls were vitrified, pottery melted, and some of the humans skeletons were very radioactive. The destruction of Mohenjo-daro is supposedly described in the ancient Sanskrit epic Mahabharata. Even considering the debate regarding it's translation, it is interesting.
…a single projectile charged with all the power of the Universe. An incandescent column of smoke and flame, as bright as the light of a thousand suns, rose in all its splendor…a perpendicular explosion with its billowing smoke clouds…
…the cloud of smoke rising after its first explosion formed into expanding round circles like the opening of a giant mushroom…
It was an unknown weapon, an iron thunderbolt, a gigantic messenger of death, which reduced to ashes the entire race of the Vrishnis and the Andhakas…the corpses were so burned as to be unrecognizable.
This appears to be a description of an atomic blast.
Is this part of a recurring theme?
