Japan

Japan had a historic election on Sunday. With charges of corruption,
combined with a crashing economy, the parliamentary balance has
reversed. Prior to the election, the ruling Liberal Democratic Party
(LDP) held 303 seats, while the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) held
112 seats. But according to exit polls from Sunday's elections, the
DPJ will now hold about 315 seats, and the LDP will hold about 100
seats.

Thus, this wasn't just a political victory. It was a historic
political earthquake, and a repudiation of the values of the people
who rebuilt Japan after World War II.

As soon as I deciphered the party's cryptic platitude language and figured out what they were really all about, I wrote an email almost exactly like the end of your article to a friend. I was hoping that a free people would be able to see truth after 20 years of deception, and I was wrong. This is astoundingly depressing to those desperately seeking a faint glimmer of hope for free minds and free markets.
