Re: 26-Sep-11 WV-Libya's Gaddafi allies with Tuareg tribe
John, I'd have to somewhat disagree with the statement "it's literally true that no solution exists to the economic problems in this generational Crisis era", because there are solutions, they just aren't possible for any politician to accept, because they aren't simple and painless. Simple and painless have been the watchwords of politicians since the early 80's, because (as you've often said) that's all the boomers and later generations are able to understand and they've never suffered any real pain as a group. These painful solutions would only be applied after these groups learn how bad things can really be.
Just as we did prior to the Civil War, practical measures have been forgotten and the political ideal is what we have, no matter the cost or problems. And mindless pursuit of an ideal is a short road to disaster, always.

never accept, then those solutions are not solutions, and so solutions
don't exist.

Two quotes from John's report:
U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner lectured the leaders on the need to act forcefully, saying that failure to do so carries the "threat of cascading default, bank runs and catastrophic risk."
Unforseeable events outside of economics affect economics and cannot be proactively buffered. Inextricably intertwined as they say. Reality cannot be escaped.Ralph Langner, engineer who deciphered Stuxnet, the cyberwar virus that destroyed many centrifuges in Iran's nuclear facilities, says that Stuxnet could now easily be replicated by "any dumb hacker," and used to "to put the lights out" in a US city or "release a toxic gas cloud."
While the periphery breaks down rather slowly at first, the capital cities of the hegemon should collapse suddenly and violently.

I'd put it that solutions exist but aren't politically possible of enactment. But either way you say it, nothing will be done before things fall to pieces.
I think a lot of people have a false sense of security about STUXNET, because it's essentially a PLC controller. Since PLC based control networks are usually isolated, they are being told "there is no way for this to enter our control network". This is not correct, there are many routes for infection to isolated networks, as the Yankee Buckshot virus proved in the case of the DOD secret network.

Undoubtedly, a blackout in a US city or collision of ships or airplanes traced to a STUXNET type rootkit will result in panic and a lot of screaming and "it's your fault" nonsense. But the idea of "not a problem" has already been rationalized and accepted, despite the fact that the people with the most knowledge of this rootkit (besides the creators of course) are in Iran, believe this was forced on them by the US or Israel, and have every motive to send it at the US as hard as they can.
