According to the link I posted in the financial forum, we are down about 1.5 trillions since 2010. Bernake has held the line there, which is an accomplishment of sorts, but he's done so at the cost of the US bond rating. Probably not a good thing.

The editors at FactCheck.org have seen and handled Obama's birth certificate, they testify it's authentic.

The sole thing keeping that "controversy" alive is that saying "birth certificate" guarantees at least two news cycles devoted to the individual who said it. I suppose that's part of the deepening crisis, factchecking is gone and we have lazy reporters simply repeating anything anyone says with the motto "you decide". How is a random person supposed to spend the effort to do the fact checking and make an informed decision? That's the reporters JOB, to check the facts and state them!

People are not saying what Obama showed is not authentic. They are saying this is just the "short form" and they would like to see the "long form". Obama is not giving this out nor is he permitting Hawaii to give this out.

FactCheck.org does understand that there is both a short form and a long form but said they did not see how to get the long form:

I think John's theory that the long form says Obama is Muslim sounds good, but it may not fit. People have shown example long form certificates they say are from that time and only have race of parents, not child. And no religion. So maybe even John's theory does not work.

The "long form" is called "Certificate of live birth" and the short form is "Certification of live birth". Note there is a slight difference.

So I think there is enough confusion that this will go on for awhile yet.
But when such a large fraction of the population feels that their president may not be in office in accordance with law, there are real dangers to society. People will fight a "usurper". Obama is taking a real risk in keeping this secret, so there must be something he does not want released. Otherwise why not just sign a document saying, "Hawaii can release any and all information they have related to my birth"?

One idea is that Obama was adopted. He does look a lot like Malcolm-X. Though I doubt Malcolm-X is his biological father. I do think Obama is hiding something but I sure don't know what.

Another theory is that his name was legally changed to Barry Soetoro when he was adopted by his second father but that he never legally changed it back. By this theory the name is still Barry Soetoro in the Hawaii computers or on the long form record. This seems a stretch too. I could imagine that his legal name was still Barry Soetoro though. Whatever the truth turns out to be it will probably be a bit unusual.

As will most days I checked your blog, I understand your stance on deflation but would like to know your definition and the cause of hyperinflation. I believe that hyperinflation has nothing to do with inflation (increase in the money supply) or deflation (decease in the money supply), but is a direct correlation to the loss of confidence in the currency.

as for the whole "controversy," it is nonsense too, but with a very real agenda....whenever anyone (Sarah Palin, Pat Buchanan, Faux News) uses the phrase "real American," they are planting that seed of doubt and discrimination...everybody knows that real Americans are white, male, honest, working class folks, not those "other" types...the Birther agenda is just a convenient gateway...

A strengthening of the dollar is consistent with the global deflationary spiral.

So yesterday was sort of consistent with deflation; however, most of the rest of the last 3 months and today's 0.6% drop is not consistent with deflation.

Measuring dollars against other paper money that is dropping in value is a really low standard. If you compared dollars to the CRB (a large basket of commodities where the real value is not changing) then it looks very much like inflation.

Of course if you converted your paper money into gold coins and looked at prices in terms of gold, like people were doing during other major deflations, then you would see deflation.

The birth certificate they've given out is the standard for Hawaii in the year Obama was born. The man can't time travel. Hawaii is not required to keep documentation once it's been entered on a computer by any federal mandate, the notion that there is a "doctor's form" out there somewhere is probably a fantasy. And what possible difference would it make? If the original piece of paper some doctor filled out to provide the information that went digital was found tomorrow in a Honolulu hospital archive somewhere, it would be declared a forgery and the beat would just go on. There is NO possible means by which this will be quieted, so there's no point in discussing it.
