Lake Baikal is a crack in the Eurasian supercontinent formed when the Indian subcontinent collided with it, also thrusting up the Himalayan Mountains.

John, your lead piece might have described Europe's migrant-invaded streets, California's druggie tent camps and every American sanctuary city. Garbage is a clue. Guerilla fighters can "sniff out" identity and whereabouts of enemies by following the garbage/human waste trails.
Oriental cultures were once purists in all things, especially opposed to marrying out. Even the scent of western people was found to be odious.
