The President could give a hoot if GoogleFacebookApple get gutted in China. Even Obama friendly General Motors taking the shaft from the Chinese would fill Trump with glee.

The problem for China is that for every dollar we export to them, we IMPORT 7 THOUSAND dollars. They have no way to combat a trade war. In any scenario the US wins.

Seriously...with a $450Bn p.a. trade surplus Chicom will run out of retaliation...
China has been given free meals ever since they joined the WTO, and now they behave just like a rapefugee rioting over free housing, education and social well fare not being good enough after some government cutdowns.

They have always copied and stolen tech... but at least they used innovative ways for stealing the tech and the traitors in the west just let them keep on partying year after year after year.

I as one of the few actually tried to export to china instead of importing from china 10 years ago. Ok things have changed a LOT for the better since then, but there is still a LOT to do if you even wanna get even close to a fair trading table. The tariffs (which china still has a lot more of than usa) is the least of concerns when you want to export something to china.

And it is laughable to hear Chinese talk about using technogy to benefit the masses when they are openly using it to control theirs.

China MUST export or die with millions in the street looking for heads to smash. This plays to their military buildup, an outlet for anxiety in their predominantly make dependent class citizens. In China, no government, no nothing. Communist government is ALL, and love it or hate it they WILL defend it as they have no other choice.

“There simply aren’t enough soybeans in the world outside of the U.S. to meet China’s needs,” said Mark Williams, chief Asia economist at Capital Economics.
American farmers haven't yet planted their spring crops other than winter wheat. My hunch is that a substantial portion of farmers will look at events unfolding in China and plant another crop.

The timing of this is perfect for Americans. If it was June, not the beginning of April, I'd be worried.

China has a severe food security problem. If China put tariffs on
American food, it would trigger mass riots in China's cities. If
China imported food from somewhere else, then whoever no longer got
that food would import American food. There's a shortage of food in
the world. Everything that the media have been saying today about
China putting tariffs on American food is total BS.
As U.S. and China trade tariff barbs, others scoop up U.S. soybeans
If the entire volume is confirmed to be going to the European Union, it would be the largest one-off sale to the bloc in more than 15 years, according to USDA data. The USDA could not immediately be reached for comment.

“We’re seeing a realignment of trade,” largely because the politics is driving up Brazilian soybean prices, said Jack Scoville, analyst with the Price Futures Group.
