Rarely has a day begun with so much joy--and Shabbot at that. John's recounting of the 1948 war is historical accuracy. The Brits launched this particular phase of the Jewish/Arab battles when they withdrew from Israel and handed over weaponry to the arab factions. John kindly does not mention that palestine is non-existent. No territory and no capitol. A house rep from Michigan sits with his agenda being "palestine". That fiction is as much a deluded mindset as liberalism.
Accepting private donation(s) is dicey legally. As a Judeo/Christian nation, Americans have always been pro-Israel. Any official embassy building will be a security nightmare. Benghazi and the Lebanon bombings are atrocities that live in memories. Abbas could make no bigger error than inciting jihad over this to-be-fulfilled Trump promise.
This is a day of hope yet surely not shalom.

Boomers really need to stop equating their values with "Americans". Most Xer and Millies despise the current system of governance. Xers and Millies will never support "israel first" unless the Israelis actually solve the Palestinian issue with the mass uprooting of the Palestinians. Anything short of that no self-respecting Xer or Millie would ever support the diasporic interpretation of Israel. Xers and Millies do however support the idea of an Israeli empire in the Levant in conjunction with the Mass pacification of the Islamic world by force. Regarding North Korea the Xer and Millie position is to either initiate a Nuclear First-strike focused on the elimination of NORK military with a warning that any strikes on US or allied targets would be followed by a countervalue second wave strike. If the boomers are unwilling to make such a preemptive strike they should just give in to the NORK demands and sign a treaty formally ending the Korean War.

I have never supported Israel. I think they blew their chance at peace by refusing to make a just one. The Jews have used the US and Nato to destroy and atomize half the Arab world. This strategy created ISIS and turned Iran into the regional power that now effectively stretches to the Med. Good move, Jews... and since when does America have a Jewish heritage? Did Jews found America? Did they spearhead the fight against the British? Save your BS for the crazy zionist Christians you have conned.

Yeah Jews did not arrive in America in large numbers until the 1870s. America was founded by Pilgrims, Pirates, adventurers, African Servants and Slaves and the clash with those groups with the Native American Indians and the eventually against first the French and later the British government.

Hamas exists for the explicit and unveiled purpose of destroying Israel. Hamas will never settle for any peace short of this end. Hamas leadership has refused to even consider a two-state solution of any kind as an option.

Remember that this is the position of Hamas leadership. The median age in Gaza is between 17 and 18. The young militants will never accept a peace that includes an Israel even if Hamas leaders did (and they don't).

Given this, all peace plans are doomed to fail. There can be no lasting peace without the destruction of Israel or Hamas. Period.

Israel had a chance to cut a deal in 1993. They didn't.

In 1993 Israel and the PLO did sign a peace accord in 1993. Hamas never signed the accord. Hamas never even removed the call in it's charter calling for the destruction of Israel. There wasn't even a chance back in 1993. Much less so today.
