China sure seems like they're in an awakening phase to me. They sure as heck didn't have much of one in the 60s when 20 million people starved. And would a people in a crisis mode conceive of something like this?

The current communist leadership is ancient and dying. And it seems to me like hundreds of millions of newly urbanized people with money and distractions will have higher priorities than going off to war. As long as they can buy whatever resources they need from Africa, and South America and Australia (and buy or steal whatever Western technology) why would they bother with war?

The gypsies have never been able to catch a break.

As for the recent nuclear news, it's fairly apparent that WWIII will be nuclear, and will primarily involve the far and mid east countries.
