Re: 11-Nov-17 World View -- European Union Brexit negotiator gives Britain a two-week ultimatum
People that are unwilling to fight for their freedom, endure hardship-suffer, do not deserve to have a country. The Catalonia didn't want to fight for their independence, so they will never have it. The UK is spineless and the rest of Europe knows it. That's why the EU treats the UK like a two dollar whore; because they can. British cowardice means they will never be free, nor do they deserve to be. England, my England exits only in history books. London is overrun by cave dwellers and is now the acid attack capital of the world. The UK deserves to be chained to the sinking EU.

Isn't it ALWAYS the Irish!? <chuckle!>
..as someone with the first name Caoimhín, I can say stuff like that. Though, as far as I'm concerned, anyone pointing out that there's something "special" about the Irish, however meant, is fine with me.
Time for a good round of "Dearg Doom", by Horslips, is in order! Sing it up, boy-o's!
Nations are what their inhabitants make of them,.. by definition. "Freedom" is not defined by what any individual "wants" it to mean, but by what "the nation" acts to define it as.
Those who won't accept the "active" definition of the characteristics of their nation actually AREN'T members of their "nation" any longer, and have decisions to make as to where they want to live, and how they want to interact with the "locals" there.
Personally, being of the "This IS the best, and only, world possible!" school of thought, where things are meant to unfold they way they do, and do so in the best way to allow us to learn from it's unfolding, we can certainly fight evil as best we can, but we also need to gracefully accept those things that we can't alter very much, and help ourselves and others to "surf" the waves of this "classroom" to find the most satisfaction with life at our end.

Whether for Brexit or against. Despite the merits or problems with the European Union. If the Brexit vote is reversed or otherwise not honoured, then the concepts of representative democracy and self-determination are meaningless.
Politics is war by other means

Here's the problem with that statement: The Anti-Brexit folks will simply say that their side didn't vote in numbers because they THOUGHT they'd win.Coordinated fires wrote:Whether for Brexit or against. Just as with the Trump vote! "We WOULD have Hillary, but we thought it was IMPOSSIBLE for Trump to win, so we partied instead of voting! Boo-hoo..."
The One-Party-Staters have no regard for "small d" democracy (representative democracy), as it's only a tool to usher in one-party-rule, then it is done away with.
They (one-party..) WANT democracy discredited. This is a win-win situation for them. They win if Brexit is nullified, proving the democracy is impotent, and they win if Brexit goes through because it energizes their followers to "act" as well as, in their eyes, further discredits democracy as "democracy OBVIOUSLY doesn't work".
