We lost this fight when Obama surrendered Iraq to Iran.
Obama takes his advice from Iranian Valerie Jarrett and the wisest man in the room: Obama.
Obama has ensured that intervention will lead to millions of deaths - as will non-intervention.
I would prefer that American blood and treasure was conserved, our strength rebuilt, our ahattered economy rebuilt, so that our many enemies (China, Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, France, Venezuela, Qatar, Pakistan and Turkey among them) will hesitate to attack us.
This all stinks of the neocons trying to entangle Trump in endless war.
No. Not my problem.

It seems to me that this resembles a crisis era mentality. Especially when the government forces are "going door to door, executing people on the spot" and other hands on brutality. The generational timeline is complicated by the fact that many of the fighters on both sides are foreign. So I have two questions? First how does this level of genocide compare with that of the last Syrian crisis era? And second is the influx of foreign fighters likely to permanently alter the Syrian generational timeline?

It seems strange that the Iranians and the Lebanese Shia would be so blood thirsty because they have been through wars in Iraq and Lebanon within living memory. And WW 2 was lead and fought by veterans of WW 1! Shouldn't that war have been avoided by the survivors?

I still believe John is on to something here. Martin Armstrong believes similar things. I read The Prince when I was a teenager. Niccolò Machiavelli argued along the same lines...

Every time I write about Syria and Bashar al-Assad, I get attacked on
the Breitbart site by people from Putin's massive army of paid Russian
trolls.

** 8-Oct-16 World View -- Reader comments and questions on Syria, Russia, and Russian trolls

Eva Barnett is a Russian troll. Read the comments. She works for RT
(Russia Today) which is straight Russian government state-sponsored
media.

For your second link, an analog would have been to say that some Jews
commit crimes, therefore Hitler was not as bad as the alternative. By
the way, the Assad regime does not give women "full rights" if you
happen to disagree with al-Assad's policies; in the latter case,
you're hung by your feet and your fingernails and tongue are removed
with pliers. Come to think of it, that's the way men are treated as
well, so maybe there is "equality" for women.

I get this kind of criticism all the time. The fact that I point out
that al-Assad is the worst genocidal monster so far this century does
not mean that I consider the alternative to be better. Just because
al-Qaeda and ISIS commit atrocities is not going to prevent me from
pointing out al-Assad's atrocities. And al-Assad's atrocities are
worse, because they're backed up warplanes and othe heavy weapons.

So what's going on Dave? Have you become a Russian troll? Is Putin
paying you?

I have been here a long time now. I am not a paid Russian troll.

The video below has the "ring of truth" to me. This woman has visited Aleppo several times and it seems like she really understands what is going on. She says the people are supportive of the government and against the terrorists. John, do you think she is telling the truth?

Well, John, I could use the money, but the ruble is practically worthless. No, I'm not being paid by the Russians, it just seems like a complicated situation.

Eva Barnett works for Vladimir Putin. So quoting her is the
same as quoting Vladimir Putin.

Of course she's right that some people support al-Assad. One thing
that people always point out to me is that al-Assad is "popular,"
and has won elections.

But that's always true of genocidal monsters. They couldn't get away
with their genocidal extermination if they weren't popular. Hitler
won elections and was very popular. Josef Stalin, Mao Zedong, Pol
Pot, Saddam Hussein and other were also very popular. When you're
dealing with these genocidal monsters, you either support the monster
or you get tortured and killed.

So when you say that some people in Aleppo support al-Assad, my
response is -- of course. So what?

Here's something that I've written before:

** 19-Aug-16 World View -- Furious UN envoy Staffan de Mistura excoriates Syria's Bashar al-Assad
** http://www.generationaldynamics.com/pg/ ... tm#e160819

It's worthwhile to stop and review how we got here. When peaceful
anti-government protests began in Syria early in 2011, al-Assad
responded with a campaign of torture, massacres and genocide targeted
at all Sunni Muslims in Syria, and that genocidal campaign has
continued to this day, with full support of Orthodox Christian Russia
and Shia Muslim Iran.

The video posted today was not the first one. Shortly after al-Assad
started bombing Sunni civilians, a video surfaced of one of al-Assad's
atrocities.

** 1-Jun-11 News -- Mutilated teenage boy becomes symbol for Syria's revolution
** http://www.generationaldynamics.com/pg/ ... m#e110601b

The 2011 video showed a 13-year-old boy, Hamza al-Khatib, who was
beaten and tortured by al-Assad's security forces for over a month,
before the boy's swollen and mutilated body was dumped. At that time,
people were hoping that the video would shame al-Assad so much that he
would stop his genocidal campaign, but of course that never was going
to happen. And Hamza al-Khatib was soon forgotten.

In 2014, a military photographer who defected from al-Assad revealed
55,000 photos of how al-Assad used electrocution, eye-gouging,
strangulation, starvation, and beating on prisoners on a massive
"industrial strength" scale.

** 22-Jan-14 World View -- Western leaders sickened by Assad's 'industrial strength' torture in Syria

(Emaciated man showing wounds from repeated beatings by rod-like
object. There are 55,000 photos like this, showing 11,000
corpses.

Many people hoped that these photos would bring about some changes,
and there was even a Congressional investigation. But those photos
have also been long forgotten.

The al-Assad regime has used Sarin gas on its own population, with
impunity. The regime has continued to use chemical weapons. Regime
helicopters drop huge barrel bombs onto civilian neighborhoods. The
barrel bombs may contain explosives, screws, nails and other shrapnel,
plus canisters of chlorine and ammonia. When chlorine is inhaled, it
reacts with the moisture in the lungs, turning into hydrochloric acid
that literally burns the target to death from the inside out.

This is what the Orthodox Christian Vladimir Putin and the Shia Muslim
Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei are supporting, and are responsible for.
Do not let anyone tell you that there is anything "holy" about either
of these men. They both deserve to go to the deepest ring of Hell,
along with al-Assad himself.

It's almost unbelievable how much destruction al-Assad has caused.
Thanks to al-Assad, Putin and Khamenei, there are about 50,000
jihadist fighters from 86 countries that have come to Syria, first to
join the rebels fighting al-Assad, then to join the al-Qaeda linked
Jabhat al-Nusra (al-Nusra Front, now Jabhat Fateh al-Sham or JFS), and
the so-called Islamic State (IS or ISIS or ISIL or Daesh). Al-Assad
has created the al-Nusra front and ISIS. He's created millions of
refugees that have flooded into neighboring countries, and over a
million have poured into Europe.

Al-Assad has caused destruction and triggered wars that will last for
decades. And America is more and more closely allying itself with
Russia and Iran, and therefore to al-Assad. America is also giving
way to Russia as the principal power in the Mideast.

So you're telling me that there are some supporters of al-Assad in
Aleppo, and you're saying that makes things "more complicated"? Are
you kidding me?
