Wouldn't going back to their former currency be a good thing? The Lira would be weak and boost tourism, trade, and real estate sales. Italy could then default on their debts and start over. Ahh, the good ole days.

Hopefully Portugal and Spain would wise up and follow suit.

This illustrates also another good reason for the electoral college. Otherwise politicians would just campaign in the big cities and ignore the rest of the country to get a majority of the votes. There is a very big difference between city folks and country folks. Just look at the snowflakes on college campuses and their emotional breakdown. Then compare that to the competition at state fairs where 10-12 year old boys and girls alone prod their raised 300 pound hogs into judging arenas where only one gets a blue ribbon.
