I was referring to the fact that China had to fight an internal civil
war -- Mao's Communist Revolution -- at the same time that it was
fighting Japan in World War II.

It's quite amazing to me that China has achieved a complete realignment of the Philippines, effectively seizing control of a strategically important piece of turf without registering on even a single US press outlet. given the fact that this relationship has been payed for with the blood of thousands of Americans.

The US press has to stay relevant. What do China and the Philippines
have to do with Clinton's e-mails?

That's true of course, however you'd think that this would be offered as another example of the failure of the Obama-Clinton foreign policy, at least by some.

But nope, not even a peep...not to mention that this is a massive blow to the national security of the United States.

As I've suggested in my two articles about Duterte, I don't consider
this to be a massive blow at all. Both the Philippine people and the
Chinese people are not taking Duterte seriously, and this decision is
going to be reversed before long. In the meantime, Philippine
fishermen get to fish in Scarborough Shoal for a little while.

As for the political aspects, what surprises me is that Comey made
this announcement on Friday afternoon, probably expecting it to die
quickly, as Friday afternoon announcements almost always do, and yet
it's not dying, but gaining coverage in the mainstream media.

The Republicans are gloating and the Democrats are off-the-wall
furious because people in Washington get away with criminal activity
as a matter of course, and the mainstream media are totally in the
tank for Clinton, so that no one can really believe that Clinton's
criminal activity might actually have consequences this time. That
someone in Washington, and Clinton in particular, could possibly face
this kind of hostile media scrutiny may represent a major change in
public mood that will be seen in other ways in the months to come, no
matter who becomes president.

Her corruption is just unbelievable. Nixon looks like a paragon of honesty in comparison to both her and Obama and was in fact forced to resign for much less than the acts they have committed and are committing.

What concerns me even more than the media is the fact that so many of her supporters are ok with it. Not many actually believe that she's innocent, just that it doesn't matter and her "accomplishments" outweigh all of that, or make excuses like "Everyone does it". Even destroying her husband's accusers don't seem to matter.

Not that Trump and many of his supporters are any better. His campaign slogan can be called: "You can't trust these people! I know! I bribed them!" Not to mention all his comments insulting Mexicans and Muslim, the latter being a lot more popular. That's not counting his behavior towards women, showing that the GOP is just as willing to excuse it as the democrats. He does seem like a sign of the times. He's far from the first demagogue we've had, but he succeeded in winning a major party nomination and however unlikely, he could win the president.

Corruption in public office is now the top concern of Americans, beyond even the economy and terrorism, which should say something.

How the hell did we end up with two truly despicable, disgusting, corrupt narcissists as our choices?
