So these mutual accusations really go to the deepest core of the disagreement between Sunnis and Shias. As the war of words continues to worsen, we will never be far away from the possibility that one side or the other will translate words into action, as had been the case for thirteen centuries.

Islam has this huge problem that there is not one clear leader since Mohamed. Some religions, like the Catholics and Mormons, have a working procedure for picking a new leader but Islam does not. Combine this with the idea that it is ok to kill Kafir (non-Muslims) and you have a recipe for a lot of killing. Sunnis think Shias are Kafir and Shia think Sunni are Kafir. It seems the only way to resolve this is for one to conquer the other. Lots of killing. I sometimes wonder if the US real plan is to give Muslims weapons to kill each other.
