Could the younger generation in Iran bring back the Shah? His son (who lives in the United States) would probably be pro-Western (even if his father sometimes wasn't). Do younger generations, when going against older generations, ever go retro and continue their rebellion by bringing back old systems?

After Cromwell died, the British brought back the monarchy and restored the executed king's son. Would that be an example of generational backlash?

-- the first 10-20 years after the climax of a generational Crisis
war. For that reason, I would resist using the phrase "generational
backlash" to describe the restoration of the monarchy. After the
chaos of the Cromwell years, people in all the generations were
looking for a return to normalcy, and restoring the monarchy with
reduced powers seemed the way to do it.

a nationalist movement or government
Xenophobia --- fear and hatred of strangers or foreigners or of anything that is strange or foreign -- ( note, definition says nothing regarding a justification for the fear and hatred --- Would you invite cannibals into your community? or would you be considered xenophobic? )

If you are white, you are not allowed to protect your culture or nation. White Lives Don't Matter.
