I live in Northern Asia. Those islands that the Chinese are building are too expensive to be just for show. War is coming, but this is the question that I have: How many countries in Asia will side with China (I think entirely out of fear)? No one wants to be under mainland rule, not even the mainland Chinese.

I can tell you this much: If America chooses to fight, Asia will rally to America. However, if America wavers, a lot of countries will side with China out of self-preservation. I think siding with China would be extremely short sided. China doesn't want allies, it wants to subjugate.

Does anyone think America will just abandon Asia to the Chinese?

Over the years I've tried to figure which Asian countries will side
with China and which with the West. It's pretty clear that Japan,
Vietnam and Philippines will side with the West, while Cambodia will
side with China. I really don't know about Korea, for example.

As for the US abandoning Asia, it's not possible. America won't even
try, but if it did, then China will attack America anyway.
