Re: 17-Nov-15 World View -- Anti-Muslim xenophobia surges in Europe and America
I suspect that so many people have left ISIS territory and the rest are leaving so fast that ISIS wanted to do something to slow up refugees. So the reaction as far as refugees is probably what they hoped and expected.
But the global hostility toward ISIS may be more than they expected. Up till now ISIS has had 1,000 trucks taking their oil to market in Turkey that nobody bothered. The US just shot up more than 100 of these trucks. Selling oil is their main source of money. Russia has been cutting supply lines for ISIS. The French are sending an aircraft carrier. I think people are fed up and there will not be much left of ISIS a couple months from now.

To be frank Islam is incompatible with liberal democracy. We have know that since at least the time of Pax Britanica. We have just forgotten.
Re: 17-Nov-15 World View -- Anti-Muslim xenophobia surges in Europe and America
I agree. But it is not yet clear how this incompatibility is resolved. On the one hand Muslims have far more babies and are often very interested in expansion. Most violent conflicts on the planet today are really from Muslims trying to expand, thinking it is their destiny to dominate the world. On the other hand, the West is developing new advanced weapons and the Muslims are not. I think there is some reason to believe that after kids grow up with the Internet a higher percentage don't just accept everything their parents believe. In another few years there will be cheap satellite Internet all over the world. If the West can survive long enough, then sometime in the next 30 years I think Islam will be in rapid decline. But it is interesting, important, and not exactly clear yet.solomani wrote:To be frank Islam is incompatible with liberal democracy. We have know that since at least the time of Pax Britanica. One of my hobbies is hyperinflation. It is interesting that ISIS does not believe in printing their own paper money, so when they run out of money they will really be out, no running the presses till hyperinflation destroys the currency. So if the US does block the flow of oil, which is easy to do, then ISIS could be broke and come to a stop really suddenly.

Perhaps they're securitizing debt in some way that serves the samevincecate wrote: > One of my hobbies is hyperinflation. It is interesting that ISIS

purpose as paper money. That's how debt bubbles are created, and debt
bubbles are the cousins of hyperinflation, serving the same purpose
and ending the same way. At any rate, their own paper money could be
used internally, but wouldn't be useful as foreign exchange.

The world is extra crazy right now, but even so it is hard to imagine who would be buying ISIS debt.John wrote: Perhaps they're securitizing debt in some way that serves the same

ISIS thinks paper money is part of the Capitalist enslavement of the world:

ISIS seems puzzled that people are fleeing a place they have implemented God's laws:

What I meant was that ISIS may have found a way to corrupt Islam'svincecate wrote: > The world is extra crazy right now, but even so it is hard to

halal finance system to use debt securities in place of paper money
for internal transactions. You're right that no one outside of ISIS
would buy ISIS debt, but no one outside of ISIS would accept ISIS
paper money either. I assume that ISIS conducts foreign exchange
transactions using dollars or euros.
Re: 17-Nov-15 World View -- Anti-Muslim xenophobia surges in Europe and America
It seems they even pay their soldiers in US dollars. They say they want to operate on their own gold and silver dinars but they are not doing that so far.John wrote: I assume that ISIS conducts foreign exchange
