What other county has a "Angela Merkel" ?? why would you state it's the Germany's version of her? Do you preface Obama with "America's" ?? Sure she is their leader but one reading at the level you write should already know who is the leader of Germany which is her. Maybe you should also prefix some of the other nouns like "cold snow", "funny money", "the Asian Chinese", "smelly garbage", "wet water".
